This song has been wrecking-ripping-slaying my spirit ALL WEEK! I have had it on repeat since Sunday evening, which is when I heard it for the first time. Seriously, I have no idea how I was sleeping on this song. Travis Greene’s music ALWAYS slays, and His testimony (-ies) are just mind blowing. I think that is why I like his music so much, because you can tell it comes from a place of wanting to truly bring God glory. He even says in the live version of this song that he “cannot be cute and cool [because of his testimony] at church.. [during worship]”
Well, that is one thing that we have in common. Because, this ONE line lays me out. “On The Hill there’s a cross, On the cross there’s blood for me.” I mean slap out. I just feel this fire that is shut up in my BONES! I just get goosebumps, and have to lift my hands. God is SO great, so merciful, so kind. And we? We are so underserving!
I know when you are fighting through the daily storm of infertility, it’s easy to forget about the GREAT thing that God has already done for us.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
This week, I have really found SO much joy in this one line. Unspeakable, unexplainable joy in the fact that my sinful, wretched self has been forgiven! Remembering the great sacrifice that was made for me has shifted my perspective this week. Remembering the message of the Gospel has restored joy into my life. I like that the song says:
“bloody and beautiful” + “messy with miracles”
Christ shedding his innocent blood, as the Holy Lamb, is the most beautiful love story ever written. We all say that we love people, especially our spouses. So, we might actually die for them. But what about a murderer? A thief? Someone that harmed your family member? Would you willingly take the death penalty they were sentenced? Christ did. He took it for you and me.
But, that isn’t all. Something else happened. Before he died. Right here in John 19:1 “So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him.” He whipped him. A lot. & while that is hard for me to imagine in my head, while it is hard for me to type (because it hurts me!) There were miracles in all of it.
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” – 1 Peter 2:24
While this hill has some painful, gruesome, heartbreaking moments; this hill is also the place where we can find HOPE, JOY, HEALING, and VICTORY. This Hill represents the place of great love. The cross represents the great love that God has for us. The blood, the blood is for you (and me.)
Oh, the blood of Jesus. It will never lose it’s power.
The blood. I encourage you to plead the blood of Jesus over your situation, and keep looking UP to the Hill. Fear is cancelled out when you fix your eyes on that Hill. Doubt is cancelled out when you realize that Jesus trumped DEATH! I know it’s hard when you aren’t ovulating, when your ovaries look like grapes, when your hormones are wacky, when you’ve just lost another baby, or when your IUI has failed. But, I want you to lay it down right there at His feet. Lay that brokenness, the hurt, the anger, the bitterness… lay it all down. This isn’t the end of your story. Sis, I believe that God can do ANYTHING! Including bless US with the miracles we desire. There is NOTHING too hard for God. He is STILL in the miracle working business. The blood STILL has power. I’m right here with you sis. Praying. and worshipping.
